What it’s like

A family-run bar and kitchen with roast dinners, live music and quiz nights, open late most days.

This is a bar and kitchen first, with breakfast from half nine, burgers and small plates from 1pm, and a Sunday roast running midday to 6pm with Yorkshire puddings and cauliflower cheese on the side. It says on the site they're family-run and happy to have kids in, so it works as a proper sit-down meal out rather than somewhere you're squeezing a toddler into a corner table.

Evenings shift the mood: live music, quiz nights and workshops crop up through the week, which is more of a grown-up draw once the kids are in bed. Opening hours stretch late on Fridays and Saturdays, right up to midnight, while Sundays wind down earlier at 9pm. Mondays and Tuesdays it's shut, so don't turn up on a whim those two days.

Walk-ins are fine most of the time, but Sundays and match days get busy enough that booking ahead is the sensible call if you don't want to be turned away. Dietary needs are covered too, with vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free all catered for if you flag it when you order. There are party rooms if you're after a birthday do, and private hire is handled through an enquiry form on their site rather than a phone call.
