What it’s like
Free farm visit where kids meet the animals, hunt for clues on the nature trail and let loose in the playground.
There's no admission charge here, which makes it an easy one to slot into a Saturday without weighing up whether it's worth the money. Kids go round petting and looking at the farm animals, then there's a playground for the bit where they stop looking at animals and want to climb something instead. The nature trail and scavenger hunts give the visit a bit of structure if you've got a child who needs a task rather than just wandering.
It suits a proper age range, toddlers up to about sixteen, though the appeal shifts as they get older, from patting a goat at four to the trail and playground being more the draw once they hit double figures. Open daily from half nine to five, so there's no need to plan around a single session time, and it's shut on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
Parking is free on site with disabled spaces right by the farm entrance, and the whole place is built for wheelchair and buggy access, level paths, ramps to the café and accessible toilets. There's a picnic area if you'd rather bring your own lunch, and a café if you'd rather not carry sandwiches round a farm all day.
