What it’s like
A free park with a sensory garden, a full-size grass football pitch and paths that are easy going with a buggy.
This one's a park in the proper old-fashioned sense rather than a big attraction with a gift shop at the end. There's a sensory garden to wander through, which is a nice change from the usual swings-and-slide setup if you've got a toddler who likes poking at plants and different textures. If your kids are older and just want to kick a ball about properly, there's an 11-a-side grass football pitch on site, not a scrappy patch of grass but a full pitch.
The paths round the park are well-maintained and accessible, so it's an easy one with a buggy or if grandad's coming too and doesn't fancy uneven ground. There's also a pet memorial area, a quiet corner that's worth knowing about if you're explaining to the kids why some people are stood there looking a bit sad.
It costs nothing to get in, which makes it an easy one to add to the list for an afternoon rather than a big planned day out. There's parking and toilets on site, which covers the basics without any fuss.
