KINVER MINIATURE RAILWAY
ENTRY
from £1.50
WHERE
Stourbridge
What it’s like
Small steam and diesel trains loop the track for £1.50 a ride, with a driving experience if your child fancies the controls.
The main event is simple: hop on a miniature train pulled by a steam or diesel locomotive and do a lap for £1.50. It's the sort of price that means you can let them go round three or four times without doing the maths in your head. There's also a proper driving experience, 1.5 hours under instruction actually working the controls, which at £75 is clearly the one to save for a birthday rather than a random Sunday.
It only runs Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays, April to the end of October, 2pm to 4:30pm, with last tickets sold at 4:15pm. That's a narrow window, so if you're planning around it, don't turn up at 3 expecting a long afternoon. No booking needed for a normal visit, you just walk up, which is one less thing to organise.
There's a picnic area if you want to bring your own food, and the Whistle Stop hut does snacks, ice cream and hot drinks if you'd rather not carry a bag. Parking is free but limited on site, and being outdoors and seasonal it's weather dependent, so a soggy Sunday in October might not be the day to go. Dogs on leads are welcome, and under 2s ride free.
For a birthday, they do private parties on Saturday afternoons with unlimited rides and exclusive use of the clubhouse and picnic area, £325 for 2025 with a £100 deposit to book it in.
