What it’s like

Free park with a play area, skate park and outdoor gym, plus a restaurant if you fancy skipping the packed lunch.

There's a play area for the younger ones, a skate park for the kids who've outgrown swings, and an outdoor gym if you fancy pretending you're going to use it while they're on the slide. It's free to get in, which counts for a lot when you've got more than one child and a Saturday to fill.

Dogs are welcome on the walk round, and picnics are allowed if you'd rather bring your own than pay for lunch. If you don't fancy the cool box, there's an in-house restaurant, 1000 Trades in the Park, plus a grab and go coffee spot for when you just need caffeine and five minutes on a bench.

Parking is the one bit that needs a plan. There's limited free parking on site, and a pay and display car park near Bearwood Bus Station on the north east side if that's full, so it's worth having a backup in mind before you set off, especially at weekends.

Being outdoors and free, this is one for a dry afternoon rather than a rainy one, but between the skate park, the play area and the space to just walk about with the dog, there's enough to fill a good couple of hours without spending anything beyond a coffee.
