Farm Animal Rescue Sanctuary

What it’s like
A rescue sanctuary where you meet the resident farm animals on a booked appointment, with seasonal extras like a Christmas wreath session.
This is a proper working rescue, not a petting zoo you can just turn up to. Everything runs by appointment, so you email ahead and get a slot, then spend your visit meeting the animals who live there, with tours pitched as a chance for genuinely close time with them rather than a quick wander past a fence.
Around Christmas there's a bit more going on. Kids can make present boxes for the resident pigs and there's shopping in the sanctuary shop, which feels like the right kind of souvenir for this sort of place. The wreath-making experience at £35 is a different matter though, and it's an adults-only session, since the wire, cutters and hot glue guns make it unsuitable for children. If you're bringing the family for the day, that one's for after bedtime or for a grown-up treat on your own.
The tours themselves run Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday, 1pm to 2pm. It's held in a barn with limited heating, so wellies and coats are essential, not optional extra layers. Refreshments and hot vegan food turn up at the special events, which is a nice touch if you're there for one of those, though it's not clear that's on offer during a standard tour slot.
Worth going in expecting mud, animals rather than rides, and a genuinely small, appointment-only operation rather than somewhere with a car park full of coaches.
