What it’s like
Two pools, inflatable obstacle sessions and Splash, float and play family swims, with holiday swims booked online ahead of time.
Swimming is the main event here: two pools, family swim sessions through the week, and Splash, float and play sessions where the little ones aren't expected to swim lengths. There's an inflatable obstacle course on the water too, which is the bit your eight to twelve-year-old will want to go straight for, and swimming lessons run for all ages if you're after something more structured.
The catch is booking. The holiday swim programme needs reserving online in advance to hold your spot, and holiday swims are the busy ones, so sort it before you promise anyone anything. If you've got a three or four-year-old, the relaxed family sessions are the gentler option; the inflatable is better saved for a child who's happy in deeper water.
For school holidays there's a kid's holiday club that bundles a swimming lesson, games and educational activities into a week, priced at £30.60 per week. That's the Bring it on Brum rate, and it's decent value for a full week of childcare with swimming included. Opening hours are long on weekdays, 6.30am to 10pm Monday to Thursday and until 9pm Friday, with shorter weekend hours of 7am to 5pm.
If you'd rather dodge the crowds, Monday afternoons between 2pm and 4pm are flagged as the quieter hours. There's a Changing Places facility, accessible changing and showers on both floors, step-free access and lifts to each floor, so buggies and wheelchairs are workable.
