What it’s like
A free local library with books to borrow, computers to use and activities laid on, open three days a week.
Books and audiobooks to borrow are the obvious reason to pop in, but there's more going on than just shelves. They run activities and events too, so it's worth a look beyond the returns desk rather than a quick in-and-out.
There are computers for public use if you need to print something or the kids want a go online, and wifi if you'd rather use your own device. Toilets and indoor seating mean you can settle in properly rather than treating it as a five-minute stop.
It's free to get in, which makes it an easy one to fold into a wet afternoon without worrying about cost. The catch is the opening hours: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 5pm only, closed the rest of the week including weekends, so this isn't a spontaneous Saturday plan.
