What it’s like
A 360-degree dome screen showing nature documentaries and educational films, with a café for afterwards.
You sit inside a domed screen and watch the picture wrap right around you, top to bottom, which is a different way to watch a nature documentary than squinting at a telly. Sessions run 45-50 minutes and cover a mix of educational films, with the David Attenborough title "Our Story" as the one everyone seems to want, at £8 a student rather than the usual £6.
There's a Home Education screening slot and a 360 Film Making Club too, so it's not just passive viewing if your child wants to have a go at making something rather than only watching. School and group bookings are the setup here, and you'll need to book ahead since there's no turning up on spec.
Budget an hour or two for the whole visit once you count the dome session and a stop in the café. The food's a step up from standard venue fare, homemade soups, sourdough toasties, fruit smoothies and cakes made with locally sourced ingredients, plus a proper kids' menu so you're not stuck ordering off the adult one and hoping for the best.
Opening hours are Tuesday to Friday 08:30-15:30 and Saturday 09:30-16:00, so this isn't a Sunday plan. The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout, and there's indoor seating if you want to sit and let the group finish up before you head off.
