What it’s like

Free browse through contemporary craft, ceramics, glass and textiles by Devon and Cornwall makers, open every day.

This is a small gallery space given over entirely to contemporary craft, and it's free to wander round, which makes it an easy one to fold into a wet afternoon without committing to a whole outing. The displays mix ceramics, glass, metalwork, textile, paper and wood, all made by artists based in Devon and Cornwall, so what's on show changes in feel from piece to piece rather than being one big themed exhibition.

It suits a slower pace than most days out. There's no interactive bit to chase after, no buttons to press, just work to look at closely, so it works best with a child who's happy to browse rather than one who needs something to do with their hands. Older children with an interest in art or making things will get more out of it than a toddler who wants to run about.

It's open seven days a week, 10am to 5pm. Because entry is free, it's low-risk to pop in for twenty minutes on the way to somewhere else, or linger longer if the collection's caught someone's interest.
