What it’s like
Free contemporary art gallery in Plymouth, open Wednesday to Saturday, with wheelchair and buggy access throughout.
This is a contemporary art gallery rather than a hands-on activity space, so it suits a quieter browse more than a big day out for young kids. Entry's free, which makes it an easy one to fit in if you're already in Plymouth and fancy half an hour somewhere calm and different.
It's only open Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 5pm, and only during exhibitions. There's no booking system, you just turn up in those hours.
The gallery and its facilities are wheelchair and buggy accessible throughout, which is one less thing to worry about if you're pushing a pram round. Parking is a bit of a faff right by the gallery itself, since the on-site spaces are Blue Badge only, but there's free street parking for up to three hours nearby and a few paid car parks a five-minute walk away if that runs out.
If you're coming by train, Plymouth station has direct services from London Paddington, though it's a proper trip at three to three and a half hours. Local buses stop at Royal Parade, about fifteen minutes on foot, and the coach station on Mayflower Street is a twenty-minute walk.
