What it’s like
A soft play corner for under-fours and a mini role-play village called Crumbs Lane for the slightly older ones.
Two different bits going on here. The soft play area is aimed at children up to four, so it's not the sort of towering frame an eight-year-old would want, and that's fine because that's not who this is for. Next to it is Crumbs Lane, a mini role-play village built for three to six-year-olds, the sort of pretend-shop-and-café setup that keeps that age group busy far longer than you'd expect.
Entry isn't cheap for what's essentially a play café. It's £10.95 for a child aged two and up, £7.95 under two, and both prices include one adult ticket, which softens the blow a bit. Extra adults are £2 each. You do need to book ahead, and it's worth knowing tickets are non-refundable once bought, so a change of plan means a lost ticket rather than a swapped one.
An adult has to stay within arm's reach in both the soft play and the role play village at all times, which is strict compared to some places where you can sit back with a coffee. That said, the café itself does sandwiches, cakes and Rainforest Alliance coffee, with gluten free and vegan options if that matters to your crew.
Parking's free on site, which is one less thing to think about. There's also private party hire on offer if you fancy taking over the place for a birthday, though you'd need to get in touch with them directly for what that involves.
