What it’s like
A proper theatre stage for panto, music and family shows, with a bar open through the interval.
This isn't a place for kids to charge about, it's a theatre, so what they do here is sit and watch: panto, music, comedy, dance and whatever else is on the bill that season. That suits a child who can hold still for a couple of hours rather than one who needs to be up and moving, though the site doesn't give an age range so you'll want to size it up against the actual show you're booking.
Booking's online or through the box office, and there's a £1.50 commission fee tacked onto every ticket, which is a bit of a cheek for something you can't dodge. Concessions cover under 16s, over 60s, students, registered disabled and the unemployed, but bring proof along when you collect. Tickets don't get refunded unless the show itself is pulled, so book with a bit of conviction rather than a maybe.
Tiffany's bar opens an hour before curtain and runs through the interval, with tea, coffee, soft drinks, ice cream and the usual crisps and sweets, plus something stronger if you want it. There are four wheelchair spaces in the stalls and an accessible entrance with automatic doors, but the balcony is stairs only, no lift, so factor that in if anyone in your party can't manage them. Blue Badge parking sits right next to the building and the whole car park goes free after 6pm, which is a nice bonus for an evening performance.
Worth knowing before you plan too far ahead: the venue is closing in 2027 for a major refurbishment. If there's a panto season or a particular show you've been meaning to catch, this stretch of years is your window.
