What it’s like

A Christmas panto full of daft jokes and festive chaos, plus musicals, dance and comedy the rest of the year.

The big draw here is the panto: proper festive silliness with the usual heroics and audience shouting-at-the-stage moments. Outside panto season the programme fills up with musicals, dance and comedy, and touring music acts, so it's worth a look even if Christmas has been and gone.

Ticket prices depend on how good your seat is. Standard performances run £30 for an adult and £26.50 for concessions or under 16s, while premium performances add a couple of quid on top. The family ticket, two adults and two children or one adult and three children, is £90 for a standard show and £96 for premium, which at least saves you doing the maths four times at the till. Every ticket gets a booking fee added on top, plus a service charge from the box office, so the price on the poster is never quite the price you pay.

Booking isn't compulsory, but with panto season being what it is, turning up on the day is a gamble. The box office runs 11am to 4pm if you'd rather sort tickets by phone than online. Wheelchair spaces have to go through the box office directly rather than being booked online, so give them a call on 01383 733666 if that's what you need.

It's a five minute walk from both the bus and the train, which makes an evening show easy enough without worrying about parking.

How much are panto tickets?

£30 for an adult and £26.50 for concessions or under 16s at a standard performance. Premium performances are £32 and £28.50. There's a family ticket at £90 (standard) or £96 (premium) for two adults and two kids, or one adult and three kids.

Do we need to book in advance?

Booking isn't required, but panto shows sell out so it's not a great one to leave to chance.

Is there a booking fee?

A booking fee applies to every ticket, and the box office adds a service charge of £2.50 or £3.50 depending on the price.

Can we get wheelchair spaces?

These have to be booked through the box office by phone rather than online. Call 01383 733666.

What time is the box office open?

11am to 4pm.

How do we get there?
