What it’s like

Pantomime, comedy and live music in a small theatre where seats aren't numbered.

The pantomime here is billed as suitable for all ages, but they're upfront that under-5s might struggle with the sudden loud noises that come with it. That's a fair warning rather than a soft one. Beyond panto season, the programme runs to comedy and live music, though a lot of those slots are 14 and over, with under-16s needing an adult alongside them, so this isn't a venue you can just rock up to with any age group for anything on the listings.

The seating is first come, first served. No picking your row in advance, which the venue puts down to the smaller capacity of the place, they'd rather fill every seat than leave gaps where a reservation didn't show. It means turning up in good time matters more here than at a big multiplex-style theatre, especially if you want the family sitting together.

There's a café on site running Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 3pm, handy for a coffee before a matinee or a bite afterwards. Tickets are non-refundable unless the show itself is cancelled, so it's worth being sure of the date before you buy, though if the event's sold out they say they may be able to resell your tickets on for you.

If anyone in your group has accessible needs, the advice is to get in touch before you go so they can sort seating out properly, given there's no reserved seating as standard.
