What it’s like
A grown-up hour with a real axe, an instructor and a target, not a kids' activity despite the arcade-sounding name.
This one's strictly for the adults, over-18s only, so it's not a family day out in the usual sense but worth knowing about if you need a babysitter-friendly evening or a birthday do without the kids in tow. You get an hour on a lane with two targets, an instructor who stays with you the whole session, and a rundown on how to actually throw the thing before you compete in a tournament against the rest of your group.
Book a social lane and you'll be sharing with strangers, up to eight to a lane, which is fine if you don't mind mixing with another group but means it's not private. Pay a bit more for an exclusive lane if you want the space to yourselves. Off-peak runs £30 a head Sunday to Wednesday, £35 Thursday to Saturday, and you pay in full when you book, no deposits here.
The 15-minute late rule is the one to watch. Turn up any later than that and you're not getting in, so build in time to find parking, since there's none on site, just street parking and a car park nearby. They want you there 10 minutes early anyway to sign the waiver, and it's alcohol-free throughout, no drinks before or during your session.
Closed-toe shoes with some grip are the only real prep needed. Sessions run most of the day from lunchtime, later on Thursdays through Saturdays.

Plan your visit
How old do you need to be?
18 and over, no exceptions. It's not somewhere to bring the kids.
How much does it cost?
£30 a head Sunday to Wednesday, £35 Thursday to Saturday for a social lane. You pay the full amount when you book rather than a deposit.
Do we need to book ahead?
Yes, though you can sometimes book same day up to 4 hours before a session if there's space. Walk-ins are only possible when tickets happen to be free, so turning up on spec is a gamble.
What actually happens in a session?
You get a safety brief, then an instructor teaches you to throw before you compete in a tournament on your lane. The whole thing runs 60 minutes with the instructor there throughout.
What's the difference between a social and exclusive lane?
A social lane puts you on a lane with other customers, up to eight people total. An exclusive lane is the same setup but just your group, no outsiders.
Is there parking?
No parking on site. There's street parking and a car park nearby.
What if we're running late?
More than 15 minutes late and you won't be let in, so leave a buffer. They ask everyone to arrive 10 minutes early anyway to sign the waiver.
