What it’s like
A child-sized village of role-play sets, from a bakery to a fire station, where under-9s run the show for a 75 minute session.
Forget bashing about on a soft play frame, here the whole point is pretending. Your child bakes bread, drives a train, serves coffee, tends a horse at the stables or plays doctor, all in scaled-down sets built for small people. It's aimed at children from confident walking age up to 9, and babies can tag along with a paying older sibling.
You're not sitting on the sidelines either. The seating is built into the play sets themselves, so you sit and serve tea or play fussy customer at the same time. That's a nice idea, but it does mean this isn't the place to park yourself with a coffee and your phone while the kids roam. Sessions run for 75 minutes and are timed like a cinema slot, so turning up late just eats into your own play time rather than extending it.
It's £8.50 a child with one adult free, and £3 for each extra grown-up, which adds up if you've brought grandparents along. Socks or slippers are compulsory for everyone, kids and adults, so don't forget them. Outside food isn't allowed beyond specific dietary needs, but there's a café on site doing coffee with real beans, and if you use the pay-and-display overflow car park you get £2 off your café spend to soften the blow.
Booking's required, and they'd rather you did it online than turned up hoping for a spot, though phone bookings are taken within two hours of a session if there's space. Parking's free right at the front when it's available, with a pay-and-display option just up the road when it isn't. Numbers are kept deliberately small, so even a grim wet Tuesday shouldn't feel like a crush.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
£8.50 per child, with one adult going in free. Extra adults are £3 each.
Do we need to book?
Yes, online booking is preferred. They'll take a phone booking within two hours of a session starting if there's space left.
How long is a session?
75 minutes, and it runs like a cinema slot. Arrive late and you still finish at the advertised time, so don't dawdle.
What age is it suitable for?
Built for children from confident walking age up to 9. Babies can come along free with a paying older sibling, and over-9s need to book as adults.
Is there parking?
Free marked spaces right at the front, and a pay-and-display car park just up the road if that's full. Using the pay option gets you £2 off your café spend.
Can we bring our own food?
They ask you not to, to support the café, though they're fine with it for allergies or specific dietary needs. There's coffee made with real beans if you want to sit down.
Do parents have to join in?
Pretty much, yes. The seating is built into the play sets so you're playing along as you sit, whether that's serving in the café or being the fussy customer.
What do we need to remember to bring?
Socks or slippers for everyone, adults included. No exceptions on that one.
Can we book a birthday party?
Saturday parties are £150 for 80 minutes and up to 24 children. Sunday parties run 2 hours from £200 to £240 with food options, and you can hire the whole place exclusively.
Is it good for a rainy day?
It's all indoors and they keep numbers small on purpose, so even a wet winter Saturday shouldn't feel overcrowded.
Where exactly is it?
At Baggeridge Craft Village next to Baggeridge Country Park, postcode DY3 4BB. Older sat navs may need DY3 4AL instead, and you'll want to search Adventure Street on Google Maps to be sure.
