Walking & Cycling Trails in Nottingham
Nottingham has some proper walking country close by. Bennerley Viaduct in Awsworth is free to visit, buggy and wheelchair friendly, with a café open Thursday to Sunday and a nature reserve beneath the skywalk. Closer in, Stoke Bardolph gives you a flat, easy riverside walk along the Trent to Stoke Lock, with the Ferry Boat Inn waiting at the end. Lambley Dumbles is a muddier affair, a free wander through stream-ravine and field paths where wellies earn their keep. For something with more climb, The Linby Trail near Hucknall is a steep 3.5-mile woodland route with good views, best left without the buggy. Families further out can try Silverhill Wood in Sutton-in-Ashfield or Dukes Wood Nature Reserve in Eakring, both free with parking and dog friendly, and Dukes Wood is worth timing for the bluebells in spring.
