Lambley
What it’s like
Pull on wellies for muddy stream-ravine walks through the dumbles and field paths - free countryside wander.
Lambley Dumbles are steep-sided stream ravines and footpaths through the fields around Lambley, a short hop from Arnold in Gedling. "Dumble" is the local word for these gullies, carved by meltwater streams and now valued for wildlife. Think wellies, muddy trails and a proper countryside wander rather than a ticketed attraction.
Paths are public rights of way. Gedling heritage leaflets cover the village, and a heritage trail can be downloaded from lambleyheritage.co.uk. There is no visitor centre or ticket desk, so check weather and path conditions before you set off with the kids.
Gedling Country Park is within walking distance via footpaths that in part run alongside Top Dumble. A bus links Lambley to Nottingham if you are combining it with other stops.
