The Linby Trail and Hucknall

WHAT IT’S LIKE

A 3.5-mile woodland climb from Linby up to great views near Hucknall, steep in places, so leave the buggy behind.

A waymarked woodland walk linking Linby, Newstead and Hucknall, part of the Greenwood Community Forest network. The full route is 3.5 miles but can be shortened to as little as 1 mile, and it climbs steeply up to Linby Tip for views over to Newstead and Hucknall, so it's not really pushchair territory once you leave the flatter sections. The paths are surfaced throughout, and the walk has been graded by surface and gradient specifically to help people who find it harder to get out into the countryside. For families, starting at Newstead gives a quieter, more rural feel, while starting at Hucknall means more facilities nearby, including a Thursday market, handy if you want a café stop or toilets before or after the walk. There's parking nearby and the route is also on bus routes, so it's doable without a car. A downloadable map/walk card is available showing the starting point and route detail.
