Climbing & Bouldering Centres in Nottingham

Depot Climbing Nottingham, about a kilometre from the centre, takes kids from age 1 on walls up to 4 metres, with instructor-led sessions once they hit 7. Nottingham Climbing Centre New Basford is close by too, with ropes and auto-belays for ages 5 and up and a party room if you want to make a day of it. For something outdoors, Boatyard Boulders has a sheltered kids' wall under the bridge, booked in two-hour slots, with a cafe on site. If you have a toddler in tow, Depot or Fun Valley (from £2.50, with a separate toddler frame alongside the climbing wall and ninja course) are the easier starts. Nottingham Climbing Centre Lenton is a different venue from New Basford, with bouldering, top rope and lead climbing from £15, plus a training room for anyone getting properly into it. A drive out to Newark, the YMCA has Clip n Climb and a speed wall alongside free parking, and Kirkby In Ashfield has ten climbing walls built in among the trampolines at Freestyle.
