What it’s like

Bouldering, top rope and lead climbing with auto belays under one roof, plus a training room for the ones hooked on it.

This one's for climbing rather than soft play. Kids can have a go at bouldering low to the ground, move up to top rope routes, or try lead climbing on the auto belays once they've got the hang of things. There's a training room with two training boards too, for anyone who wants to work on it properly rather than just have a mess about on the wall.

It's open long hours most days, from 6am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday right until 10pm, and 9am on the other days (weekends finish at 8pm instead). That spread means you can fit a visit around school runs or work if you need to, which isn't nothing when you're juggling a family diary. There's a café on site doing vegetarian options, plus a shop and wifi if you're sat waiting rather than climbing yourself.

Because there's no age range given, it's worth thinking about what your child can actually manage on a wall before you go rather than assuming it'll suit any age. Auto belays and lead climbing suggest a bit of climbing experience helps, though bouldering close to the mats is more forgiving for a first go. Give it a proper couple of hours if your kids get into it, since between bouldering, the ropes and a drink in the café, time goes quickly.
