Circus & Street Performance in Birmingham

If your kids fancy trying the trapeze rather than just watching it, head to West Midlands Circus Centre & RoguePlay Theatre, close to the centre, where the classes let them have a go at aerial skills themselves. Crescent Theatre in Brindleyplace does relaxed performances for families who want a gentler show, tickets from £13. For something more hands-on with hoops, silks and stiltwalking, it is a longer trip out to Kidderminster for Showtime Circus Factory, which takes ages 1 to 16. For touring circus and bigger street performance shows, Coventry Building Society Arena has proper food, parking and step-free access, though it is a longer trip out to Coventry. Warwick Arts Centre, also out in Coventry, runs free family art sessions and storytelling for babies, with a proper café for the waiting around. If your children are little, the free baby sessions or the hands-on classes are the better start; older ones might prefer trying real circus skills or watching a full touring show.
