Pantomime & Family Theatre in Preston

None of these four are in Preston itself, so this one is about deciding how far you fancy going. A longer trip out to Prescot gets you Shakespeare North Playhouse, a proper theatre with family shows, tours and a play area by the café, plus some performances where you choose what to pay. Closer in, Lytham St Annes has the Lowther Pavilion Theatre & Gardens, with tickets from £2 and mini-golf, crown green bowls and tennis outside if the show isn't the whole plan. For value, the Lowther is hard to beat at £2. Wigan Little Theatre is the one to book ahead for, seats go in advance rather than on spec, tickets from £12 and suited to ages 3 and up. If it has to be a proper pantomime, St Helens Theatre Royal has Peter Pan this year, from £20, which is a longer trip out to Saint Helens but worth it if that's the tradition you want.
