What it’s like

Weekly dance, drama and singing classes in Preston, split by age, with a free taster before you commit to anything.

This is a theatre school that runs weekly classes rather than a one-off show you watch from a seat. Kids get stuck into dance, singing and acting, with street dance, screen acting, pop singing and Broadway-style musical theatre all part of the mix. Classes are split by age, from Tots at 2-3 right up to Seniors at 12-18, so your four-year-old isn't standing next to a confident fifteen-year-old doing the same routine.

Every child gets a free taster session first, and that stays free whatever you decide afterwards. You drop your child into their age group's class while you get a welcome pack and a chat with the Principal, then a peek into the class near the end. It's a decent way to test the water before you commit to termly fees, and you can even bring a friend along to the same taster.

The fees climb steeply with age: £25 for Tots, £35 for Minis, up to £67 for Juniors and £76.50 for Inters and Seniors. That's a proper jump once your child hits six, and there's a direct debit option to split it into monthly chunks rather than one lump sum. One thing to flag: parents aren't allowed to watch regular classes after the taster, which is fair enough for the kids' confidence but might feel odd if you're used to hovering at the door.

Uniform is kept simple, plain black bottoms and trainers, plus one compulsory Razzamataz t-shirt, so you're not kitting anyone out in a full branded outfit. Performance opportunities range from the annual summer showcase to bigger stages like Shaftesbury Theatre or Disneyland Paris for older students who stick with it, which is the kind of thing that makes the weekly slog of Tuesday evenings feel worthwhile.

Free taster session
  • Fees jump a lot once your child moves from Minis into Juniors at age six.
  • Open-toe shoes, sandals, heels or wheelie shoes aren't allowed in class.
  • There's no ballet in the regular classes, though older students can add Razz Project Intense which includes it.
  • Bigger performance opportunities like Disneyland Paris or the O2 Arena are for particular age groups, not every student.

How much does it cost?

It depends on age: £25 for Tots (2-3), £35 for Minis (4-5), £67 for Juniors (6-8), and £76.50 for Inters and Seniors (9-18). There's a direct debit option that spreads the term fee into monthly payments.

Do we need to book?

Yes, booking's needed for the free taster session and for joining regular classes.

Is the taster session really free?

It's free no matter what you decide afterwards, and any child can book one on. You can bring a friend along too, as long as they book on separately.

Can parents watch the classes?

Only during the taster session, when you get a short look in near the end. After that, parents aren't allowed into regular classes.

What should my child wear?

Comfortable, practical clothes with no jewellery, tights, dresses or denim, and clean trainers or pumps. Once they join properly it's plain black bottoms, black trainers or pumps, and the compulsory Razzamataz t-shirt.
