Circus & Street Performance in Preston

Circus and street performance is thin on the ground close to Preston itself, so this list stretches out to Chorley and Burnley. Out at Chorley, the Scare City Experience is a one-way scare trail through an abandoned theme park, with live actors jumping out at every turn, and it comes with a proper warning label: ages 14 to 16 only, from £32.50, and there's an accessible toilet if you need one. For a longer trip out to Burnley, Burnley Mechanics Theatre is more of a proper theatre outing than street performance as such, with a bistro for food beforehand and a lift to every floor. If you have younger children, neither of these quite fits the classic circus mould, so choose on age first. The Chorley trail is strictly for older teens who fancy a fright, outdoors and booking ahead is required. Burnley suits a calmer family evening, with step free access throughout and parking and public transport both sorted, so it is the easier one to get to without a car.
