What it’s like

Free Bookbug songs and stories for babies and under-5s, plus a family book group, in a small local library.

This one's for the baby and toddler years. Bookbug sessions are the main event: songs, rhymes and stories aimed at babies, toddlers and under-5s, and they're free, which matters when you're doing this every week. There's also a book group for children and families if you want something a bit less sing-song and a bit more chat about stories.

It's a small library rather than a big destination, so don't expect this to fill a whole day. An hour, maybe less if your toddler decides they've had enough of sitting still, is probably the shape of a visit. That's fine for a library though, and it's not trying to be anything else.

Hours shift through the week, which is a bit of a faff to keep straight. Monday and Wednesday it's open 1pm to 8pm, while Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday it's 10am to 5pm. There's no Sunday opening listed. Parking is on street only, no car park attached, so leave a bit of time if you're driving in and need to find a space.

There's baby change and it's breastfeeding friendly, both of which count for a lot when you've got a baby in tow. Wifi's there too if you need to kill ten minutes on your phone while the little one naps in the buggy.
