What it’s like
Free Bookbug sessions and baby groups for under-fives, with a quiet corner for feeding and no ticket to sort beforehand.
This one's for the under-fives really. Bookbug sessions are the main event, rhymes and songs and board books aimed at babies and toddlers, and there's an infant feeding support group too if that's what you need on a Tuesday morning. It's not a soft play or a big attraction with a slide to save for last, it's a library doing what a library does, but for a two-year-old who likes a singalong that's plenty.
It's free to get in, which takes the pressure off if the session doesn't quite land or your toddler decides halfway through that they'd rather look at the carpet. Tuesdays and Thursdays it's open till 8pm, other weekdays and Saturday it shuts at 5, and Sunday it's closed, so plan around that if you're coming from work or fitting it round a nap.
There's a baby change and it's breastfeeding friendly, and the building's wheelchair accessible with an accessible toilet, so a buggy and a baby bag aren't a problem. No car park on site though, which is worth knowing if you're driving in rather than walking or getting the bus. Assistance dogs are welcome, other pets aren't.
For older siblings there's a book discussion group, though the age range on the record here is really pitched at the under-fives crowd.
