What it’s like

Free Bookbug rhymes for under-5s and Lego Fun sessions for school-age kids, no booking needed.

This is a proper neighbourhood library rather than a big attraction, and the two sessions worth building a morning around are Bookbug and Lego Fun. Bookbug is songs, stories and rhymes for the under-5s, and it runs on Wednesdays. Lego Fun is for 5 to 11 year olds and runs on Saturdays, with extra sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays through the summer holidays in July and August.

Both are free and there's no booking link listed, so it looks like you turn up for the session and see how busy it is. That's fine on a quiet Wednesday but worth bearing in mind if you're planning around nap times or a toddler who needs a seat.

Outside of the sessions it's just a normal library, open most days from 10am, with later closing on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you fancy a browse after school pickup. There's free parking at the side of the building, a baby change and an accessible toilet, and it's a fine wet-weather stop even if you're not there for a specific session.

It's indoors, free to get in, and dog friendly for assistance dogs. Nothing flashy, but a decent way to fill an hour with a small kid without spending anything.
