What it’s like

A heated dog swimming pool for private swims, puppy classes and pool parties, this one's for the four-legged family member.

This isn't one for the kids, it's one for the dog. The pool's heated and filtered, and it's built entirely around dogs paddling about rather than children splashing in it. A private 45-minute swim runs £35, and there's a cheaper £20 open swim session for dogs confident enough to share the water with others.

Nervous, shy or reactive dogs are actually who the private sessions are pitched at, which is a nice touch if your dog's more "stares at water suspiciously" than "leaps straight in". Puppy swim classes are on offer too, and if you fancy marking a dog's birthday properly there are pool parties for up to five dogs at once. Booking's done online and it's required, not optional, so don't turn up expecting to walk straight in.

Worth knowing before you commit: XL Bullies and other banned breeds aren't allowed in the open swim sessions, and if a dog turns reactive during an open session they can be asked to leave with no refund. That's a fair enough rule for everyone else's dogs in the water, but it stings if it happens to be yours. Open daily from 9am to 6pm, and parking's free, so at least that bit's straightforward.
