What it’s like

A local sports centre with swimming, gymnastics and inflatable sessions, plus badminton and netball courts for older kids.

Swimming lessons are the backbone here, and there's a run of other things bolted on: gymnastics, dance classes, and sessions where the pool fills up with inflatables to bounce and slide off. If you've got a child who wants to swim lengths and another who just wants to jump off a giant floating banana, this covers both without you needing two separate trips.

The courts get used properly too. Badminton, basketball, netball and volleyball all get a mention, so it suits families with older kids who've moved past splashing about and into actual team games. A casual swim is £4.50 for an adult and £4 for a senior or child, which is decent value for a local pool. The gym sessions and exercise classes are £7.50 if that's more your speed while the kids are in lessons.

Hours are generous on weekdays, open from 7am to 10pm Monday to Thursday and until 9pm on Friday, though weekends are shorter at 8am to 3pm. Booking ahead is recommended, especially at peak times, so don't assume you can just turn up on a Saturday morning and get straight in. The car park is free with 99 spaces including accessible and parent-child bays, and there's a bus stop nearby if you're coming without a car.

It closes over the main Christmas and New Year period, but stays open with shorter hours between Boxing Day and New Year's Eve if you need somewhere to take restless kids that week.
