What it’s like
A free park with a play area for younger children, walking trails and outdoor gym kit to work through.
There's no entry fee here, which makes it an easy one to slot into a morning without planning much around it. The play area is aimed at younger children, so it suits a toddler or a reception-age kid more than a gang of ten-year-olds looking for a challenge.
Beyond the play equipment there are walking and jogging trails through the park, useful if you want to stretch the visit out with a proper wander rather than just twenty minutes on the swings. The outdoor gym equipment sits alongside, so if you fancy a go while the kids are on the climbing frame, you can actually do that instead of just standing there holding coats.
It's outdoor throughout, so a dry day makes the difference between a good visit and a short one. Opening hours stretch right out to 9pm in summer, from 1 May to 30 September, dropping back to 5pm for the rest of the year. Parking is available on site, which takes one bit of faff out of the day.
