What it’s like
Zip lines and Tarzan swings through the treetops at Coombe Abbey Park, with a proper kids' course from age 4.
The big one is Treetop Challenge, aimed at ages 10 and up, with zip lines the site says run up to 426 metres and enough Tarzan swings to make you regret that second coffee. Younger kids aren't left out: Treetop Adventure is built for ages 4 to 10, and Treetop Adventure Plus steps things up a notch for age 6 and over. Whichever course you pick, expect harnesses, a safety brief, and your child ignoring you completely once they're clipped in.
There's more than rope courses on site. Stumped is an outdoor logic and problem-solving game for age 8 and up, axe throwing starts at age 12, and archery tag is age 8 plus, so they're really extras for the older ones in your group rather than something the whole gang can do together. Mini Land Rovers are the one that works from age 1, if you've got a toddler tagging along who's too small for the trees.
You're in Coombe Abbey Park, about 20 minutes from Coventry city centre, and parking is shared with the Coombe Abbey Hotel, pay when you leave. It's a 5-minute walk from the car park to the cabin, and the same again to the visitor centre for toilets and baby changing, so factor that in with a buggy or a toddler who needs the loo urgently. There's a café, a small shop and ice cream at the visitor centre if you need refuelling before or after.
Wheelchair and pushchair access is possible but not straightforward. There are narrow uphill and downhill stretches and a curved bridge that's wide enough but may need a hand to get round. If anyone in your group has specific access needs, it's the kind of thing worth flagging to the team ahead of your visit rather than finding out on the day.
