What it’s like
Quad bikes, off-roaders and paintball on a Leicestershire site built for teens and adults, not younger kids.
This one's off the table for anyone under 12, and worth knowing that before you get your fifteen-year-old's hopes up. Above that age, though, there's a proper list of stuff to throw them at: quad bike safaris, Land Rover off-roading, JCB digger driving, clay pigeon shooting, knife and tomahawk throwing, paintball. If your teenager's into anything loud and slightly dangerous, this is the place that ticks most of those boxes in one visit.
A few of the driving activities need a manual licence in the driver's head even if not on paper, since they say you need to actually know how to drive a manual vehicle for the Land Rover, opposite steer buggy and JCB sessions. Worth checking your teenager's actually up to that before you book, rather than finding out on the day. The 4x4 Pay and Play works differently, at £39 a vehicle plus £6 for an extra driver, and it's on you if the vehicle gets damaged, which is the kind of small print you want to read twice.
Booking has to happen well in advance, by appointment only, though they do mention last-minute cancellations sometimes open up a slot if you're not fussy about the date. Sessions run 10am to 6pm in summer and 10am to 3:30pm in winter, and they're open 365 days bar Christmas and New Year, so there's no real off season for this one. Food's only properly served on Pay and Play Sundays, but every activity customer gets free tea and coffee, and groups of eight or more can arrange a buffet lunch with their booking.
If you're planning a full day rather than a single activity, the guide price for a multi-activity session is £165 per person, which isn't pocket change but does cover a fair spread of what's on offer. Group bookings are handled too, up to around 50 people.
