What it’s like

A quick, topsy-turvy photo experience where every room is built to be shot upside down.

You walk through a house where the furniture's fixed to the ceiling, the light fittings sit on the floor, and every room is designed for one job: a photo that looks like you're hanging off the walls. It's a proper novelty for a phone camera and you'll spend the whole 15 to 20 minutes working out the best angle rather than actually exploring, because there isn't much floor space to explore in the first place.

That short visit length is worth knowing before you go, because at £6.45 a head it's not a cheap quarter of an hour if you're expecting more of a wander. Under 12s need an adult with them throughout and there's no running or climbing on anything, which makes sense once you see how tight the rooms are. The entrance is only 80cm wide too, so buggies stay outside on the terrace and prams don't come in with you.

There's a spiral staircase up to the second floor with no lift or ramp, though the ground floor has a temporary ramp in for wheelchair users, who go free with a carer at 20% off. Dogs aren't allowed inside either, aside from guide and assistance dogs. Given the ground rules on space and supervision, this suits kids old enough to pose steadily for a photo rather than toddlers who want to touch everything.

It's open weekdays 9am to 6pm with last entry half an hour before close, and you can book a time slot online or just turn up and pay at the door. Booking ahead does carry an online fee, and slots get priority if it's busy, so if you're going at a popular time it's worth locking in a slot rather than chancing the queue.
