What it’s like
Quad biking, tank driving and shooting sports built for adults, though some early teens can join specific activities.
This is not a children's activity centre with a teen add-on. It's an adult outdoor activity operator, running quad biking, tank driving, paintball, rifle shooting and archery, and the site is upfront that the equipment is designed for adults. That said, they do let some early teens have a go, with tank driving specifically opened up to ages 9 to 13 at £25, and parental consent required for anyone under 16.
Quad biking comes in two versions: the Rural Ramble at £80 and the tougher Jungle Challenge at £120, both worth knowing need decent upper-body strength. Tank driving has its own physical demands too, since you have to clamber into the crew compartment, and it only runs about once a month on a weekend, weather and ground conditions allowing. If you've got a young teenager who fancies driving a tank rather than kicking a football at their birthday, this is the sort of thing that sells the day on its own, but you'll want to book around their monthly slots rather than picking a random Saturday.
Sites are usually within 25 minutes of Newcastle city centre, though rock climbing, abseiling and caving locations can be further out. A buffet lunch can be pre-booked for £10-£12 a head, or you can eat nearby at the golf club or High House Brewery. Booking needs a deposit up front with the balance due three weeks before, though they say shorter notice is often possible if you're pushing it.
One to flag: they won't refund anyone who turns up appearing under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and any medical condition needs to be declared at booking, not on the day. Bring warm, wet-weather kit and sturdy boots, since overalls and head protection are only provided when the activity calls for them.

Plan your visit
Is this suitable for kids' birthday parties?
The equipment is built for adults, but the site says some early teens may be able to take part. Tank driving specifically has a 9 to 13 price band at £25.
What's the minimum age?
It depends on the activity, so you'd need to ask them directly for a specific one. Anyone under 16 needs parental consent regardless.
How much does it cost?
Quad biking starts at £80 for the Rural Ramble and £120 for the Jungle Challenge. Tank driving for 9 to 13 year olds is £25.
Do we need to book ahead?
Yes, a deposit is taken at booking with the balance due three weeks before, though shorter notice can sometimes work. Tank driving sessions aim to run once a month on weekends, so those fill up around that schedule.
What about food?
A buffet lunch can be pre-booked at £10-£12 a head. There's also the nearby golf club and High House Brewery if you'd rather eat off-site.
Do we need any particular fitness level?
Quad biking calls for reasonable upper-body strength, and tank driving needs enough agility to climb into the crew compartment plus good upper-body strength too. It's not one for anyone with mobility limitations in the arms.
