What it’s like
Sit at the controls of a Boeing 737, Concorde or a fighter jet cockpit on a real flight simulator rig, booked in advance, from age 12 up.
This is a booth full of proper flight simulator rigs rather than an arcade machine, and you pick your aircraft: a Boeing 737, the Concorde supersonic jet, an F-16 Fighting Falcon or an F/A-18 Super Hornet, or a helicopter. Two people can go head to head in the F/A-18 versus F-16 dogfight, which sounds like the one to save for last if you've got a competitive streak. There's also a two-hour Military Aviation Experience and a Fear of Flying Course if you want more than a quick go.
The minimum age is 12, and anyone between 12 and 16 needs an adult with them, so this isn't one for younger kids however much they've begged to fly a plane. Prices start at £39.99 for the Boeing 737 on sale, and a Family or Group Ticket for four comes in at £149.99: split between four people that's a 15-minute flight each, or two people can share 30 minutes. The Concorde experience alone is £149.99, and the Military Aviation Experience runs to £299.99 for two hours, so it's worth deciding in advance who's flying what.
Everything runs on online booking only, first come first served, and it's worth reading the booking rules properly. If you book without a required add-on it gets cancelled automatically, and changing your slot within 48 hours or not turning up triggers a rebooking fee. Vouchers last 24 months, and if yours runs out before you use it there's a 6-month extension to buy.
Birthday parties are available seven days a week, from £249.99 for up to ten people over two hours with two instructors and three simulators running at once, and the site lists these from age 8. Toilet and kitchen facilities are on site.
