What it’s like
Snakes, meerkats and a tropical aquarium under one roof, plus daily animal talks and indoor and outdoor play if the weather turns.
The reptile house is the bit that gets talked about on the way home: snakes and lizards close enough to properly look at, then a nocturnal house that switches things right down for anyone who fancies the dark and the quiet. The aquarium's got the colourful fish you'd want, and the meerkats and lemurs outside are the ones you'll end up watching longer than planned. Daily animal talks and encounters run through the day, so it's worth building your visit around whenever those are on rather than turning up and hoping.
Entry is £12.95 for a child aged 2 to 15 and £16.95 for an adult, which adds up for a family but you're getting a proper day of it, not a quick loop. Last entry is an hour before the 5pm close, so 4pm's your cutoff even though the doors don't shut till later. There's no need to book ahead, you can buy on arrival, though booking online does exist if you'd rather sort it before you go.
Indoor and outdoor play areas mean a wet day doesn't wreck things, and there's a restaurant on site for when the animal talks schedule leaves you needing to sit down for a bit. Birthday parties are a proper option here too, with a standard package or a premium one that throws in food and an animal encounter, which takes the pressure off organising your own cake and games.
