What it’s like

A pet shop in Lliswerry where you can browse tanks of fish, aquarium kit and live birds, with a dog groomer working out of the same store.

This is a proper aquatics and pet shop rather than a visitor attraction, and it's worth knowing that going in. You wander round looking at fish, heaters, filters, plants and tank decorations, plus live birds that are there for sale rather than on display for looking at. It won't fill an afternoon, but if your kids like peering into tanks and working out which fish is which, it's a free way to spend twenty minutes on the way to somewhere else.

There's a dog groomer, Doggy Groom, working inside the shop, so if you've got a dog that needs a freshen up you can ring ahead and book them in while you're browsing. That's a nice bit of practicality bolted onto a pet shop, and it means the visit can do double duty if you've already got a dog at home.

One thing to flag clearly: if anyone in your group fancies actually buying a pet, you have to be over 18 to do it. Under-18s need a parent or guardian there to take responsibility, which is fair enough given they're talking about you taking on a living animal, but it does mean a teenager can't just wander in and walk out with a fish on their own say-so.

It opens 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday and a shorter 11am to 3pm on Sundays, and there's free parking right outside, so it's an easy stop rather than a destination in its own right.
