What it’s like

Open-water swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking and wood-fired saunas by the lake, booked online and strictly for ages 12 and up.

This one's for the older kids and the adults, not a family splash-about. Swimming and sauna sessions need you to be 16 or over (16 and 17 year olds need an adult with them), while paddleboarding opens up from age 12, as long as an adult is on their own board alongside anyone under 18. Once you're in, it's open-water swimming with a mandatory tow float, paddleboarding, kayaking, yoga by the water and wood-fired saunas to warm back up in.

Everything has to be booked online before you arrive, and that includes the sauna and Wild Wellness sessions, not just the swim slots. There's no turning up on spec to see if there's space, and each person books their own place rather than one adult booking for the group, which is a bit of a faff if you're trying to sort a few teenagers at once. The café is the exception, you can drop in there without booking, and it stays open through the swim sessions for snacks and drinks before or after.

Opening hours shift about through the week, so Wednesday's a short late-morning window while Thursday and Friday split into an early slot and an evening one. Weekends run 8am to 2pm. Worth knowing that in summer there's no lingering to sunbathe once your session ends, space is tight, so plan on the café afterwards rather than a lazy hour on a towel. You'll need to buy food and drink on site too, since bringing your own isn't allowed.

Plan your visit

What age do you need to be?

Swimming and sauna sessions are 16 and over, with 16 and 17 year olds needing an adult with them. Paddleboarding drops to age 12, but under-18s need an adult on their own board alongside them.

Do we need to book?

Every swimming, sauna, paddleboarding and Wild Wellness session needs an online booking beforehand, and each person books individually. The café is the one bit you can just walk into.

Can we bring a picnic?

No, food and drink on site has to come from the café rather than what you bring yourself.

Is there anywhere to eat?

There's an on-site café that's open for snacks and drinks whenever swim sessions are running, so it works before or after your slot.

Can we stay and sunbathe after swimming?

Not in summer, space is too tight for it. The café afterwards is the suggested alternative to a lazy hour by the water.

What do we need to bring for swimming?

A tow float is mandatory all year round for open-water swimming, you can bring your own or hire or buy one when you arrive.

Can we book the sauna just for our group?

Private hire of the saunas is possible, but you need to email them directly to arrange it rather than book it as a standard slot.
