What it’s like

A late-night comedy and gig venue with a free games room, level access to the main room, and a bar that stays open past midnight most nights.

This is a bar-led venue for comedy nights and gigs, not somewhere you'd bring the kids. Doors open at 4pm and the bar keeps going until midnight on weeknights, 1am on Fridays and Saturdays, and just past midday on Sundays, so you've got plenty of scope to make a proper evening of it rather than rushing in for a quick set.

Tickets for shows run from around £15, and the concert room itself is a square with the bar on one side and a raised stage on the far wall. Sightlines are good from most of the room unless it's a sell-out, in which case the area near the toilets on the far wall is your best bet. It's level access throughout the concert room and front bar, with an accessible toilet too, which is more than you can say for a lot of small venues.

Between sets, or if you turn up early, there's a free games room with a pool table, dartboard, bar billiards and some retro arcade machines. The catch is it sits up five steps from the front bar. Worth knowing too that the team on the door is small once a show's started, so if you need anything sorted on the night it's better to ask early.

If you need seating because of a disability, or you're after a carer's ticket, you'll want to email the venue a couple of days ahead with the show name, your electronic ticket and something like a PIP letter or blue badge. They'll reserve you a spot on one of the benches at the edge of the room.

Plan your visit

Is this venue suitable for children?

It's a bar-led comedy and gig venue, so it's really set up for adults out for the evening rather than a family visit.

How much are tickets?

Tickets for shows start from around £15, depending on the event.

Do I need to book ahead for accessible seating?

Email a couple of days before the show with the show name, your electronic ticket and proof of requirement like a PIP letter or blue badge, and they'll reserve a bench spot at the edge of the room.

Is the venue accessible if I use a wheelchair?

The front bar and concert room have level access and there's an accessible toilet, but the games room is up five steps and can't be reached by wheelchair.

Is there parking nearby?

There's no venue car park, but there are pay and display car parks close by, and it's about five minutes on foot from the rail station.
