What it’s like

An events venue in Liverpool built for 18th birthdays and grown-up parties, with a Santa morning as the one date families can book.

This is an events and party venue rather than a comedy club or a drop-in bar. The doors are open Monday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm, but the real business happens when you book one of the party rooms: the Cunard room for up to 70, or the Port of Liverpool room, which takes 120 seated or up to 170 standing. Book the whole floor and you're looking at 210 seated or 300 if people are on their feet, which is a serious number for a birthday do.

The catch, if you're picturing a family party, is that birthdays here are booked for 18th birthdays and up. Younger guests can still come along, but everyone under 18 has to be off the premises by 11pm unless the bar shuts at that point too, and parents need to know that before the night starts. It's a fair rule for a venue with a working bar, but it does mean this isn't really the place for a child's birthday tea.

Where families do get a proper look-in is the Family Morning with Santa, alongside the Christmas celebrations and the festive afternoon tea, all with live entertainment laid on. Outside of the party bookings, the site handles catering itself, from three-course festive menus to seasonal light bites, and there's no bringing your own food, drink or corkage.

Getting in is straightforward: step-free access via a ramp, a lift for all floors, and free parking on the surrounding streets after 6pm if you time it right. The venue describes itself as only partly accessible for some needs, so if there's anything specific you rely on, it's the sort of thing to flag with them ahead of your visit rather than turning up and hoping.

Plan your visit

Is this a place I can just walk in with the kids?

Not really. It runs Monday to Sunday, 11am to 6pm, but the party rooms and the bigger events are booked in advance, and birthday bookings are for 18th birthdays and older.

Can children come to events here?

Yes, children are welcome at parties, but everyone under 18 has to leave by 11pm unless the bar closes at the same time. Parents need to be told this before the day.

What's the Santa event about?

There's a Family Morning with Santa alongside the festive afternoon tea and Christmas celebrations, all with live entertainment.

How many people can the rooms hold?

The Cunard room takes up to 70. The Port of Liverpool room holds 120 seated or up to 170 standing. The whole floor takes 210 seated or 300 standing.

Can we bring our own food or drink?

No outside food or drink is allowed and there's no corkage service, so all catering runs through the venue.

Is there parking nearby?

Street parking is pay and display but free after 6pm. The nearest secure car park is The Capital on Rumford Place, with an open-air NCP off Covent Garden too.

Is it accessible?

There's step-free access via a ramp and a lift for all floors, though the venue says it's only partly accessible, so it's worth telling them about any specific needs ahead of time.

Can we bring party favours or decorations?

Party favours are fine except miniature spirits, shots, prosecco or wine. Decorations like chair covers and LED letters come as part of the packages, but you can talk to them about sourcing your own.
