What it’s like

A city centre theatre for live shows, with proper access provision and a café to grab a drink before curtain up.

This is a working theatre in the middle of Liverpool, the sort of place you book a show and build an evening or afternoon around. There's a café on site for a drink beforehand, and the box office team suggest getting there half an hour early to sort seats and the loo before things start, though as long as you're in your seat for the advertised time you're fine.

Access has clearly been thought about properly. There's lift access to all floors, wheelchair spaces in the auditorium on both levels, an accessible toilet with a Changing Place, and a free companion ticket if you need one for an access requirement. Assistance dogs are welcome too, though seating space for them is limited so it's worth telling the box office when you book.

Getting there without a car is straightforward, with Liverpool Central, Lime Street and Queen Square bus station all around a 15 minute walk away. If you are driving, street parking nearby is pay and display and genuinely limited, and the multi-storey on Mount Pleasant is a 7 minute walk with no lifts currently running, which is a faff if you've got a buggy or find stairs hard going.

Under-18-month babies can come along as babes in arms without needing their own ticket, though you're expected to take them out if they get noisy, so it's not really set up for very young children beyond that. Tickets are non-refundable if you change your mind, though you can swap to another date of the same show for a £2 fee.

Plan your visit

Do I need to book a ticket for my baby?

Under 18 months they can go as a babes in arms without their own ticket, but check with the box office first that this applies to the show you want. They'll need to sit on your knee, and you'll be expected to take them outside if they get noisy.

Is there parking nearby?

Street parking is pay and display but extremely limited. There's a multi-storey on Mount Pleasant about 7 minutes away, though the lifts aren't currently working there.

Is the theatre accessible?

Yes, there's lift access to all floors, wheelchair spaces on both levels of the auditorium, and an accessible toilet with a Changing Place. A free companion ticket is available if you have an access requirement.

What time should we arrive?

They suggest arriving half an hour early for a drink and to find your seat, but as long as you're seated for the advertised start time that's fine.

Can I get a refund if we can't go?

Tickets are non-refundable unless the show is cancelled. You can move to a different date of the same show for a £2 exchange fee.
