What it’s like
Real go-karting on a 500m multi-level circuit, with a slower Mini Racers track for kids from age 4.
This is proper karting, not the fairground version. Over-eights get the 500m multi-level circuit, which by the sound of it has enough bends and changes of level to make the older ones feel like they've actually raced something. Younger kids aged 4 to 7 get their own Mini Racers track, though there's a height rule tucked in there too, between 1.0m and 1.4m, so it's worth measuring your four-year-old against the door frame before you promise them anything. There's also Combat Karts if your crew fancy power-ups and a bit of gaming nonsense mixed in with the driving, and Rookie Racer sessions for teenage beginners finding their feet.
Booking's essential, not a suggestion. Sessions have limited space and they're upfront that you need to lock in a slot rather than turn up hoping. Under-16s always need an adult with them, though once a child hits 8 they're allowed to race solo if they want the independence. No driving licence needed, which is one less thing to worry about explaining to an eight-year-old.
The dress code is stricter than most places admit to: no head coverings under the helmet, a balaclava is required, and jewellery's out. It's a minor faff but a sensible one once you're doing 500m of actual racing. Food-wise there's a kitchen and Fuel Bar on site with buffet options and a full drinks list, alcoholic included, though outside food isn't allowed in. It's card only, so leave the cash at home.
One genuine catch: the main downstairs track and pit lane aren't wheelchair accessible, though the rest of the venue is, and Combat Karts does offer accessible spectator viewing. Parking's free on site, and if anyone in your group just wants to watch rather than race, that's free too.
