What it’s like
A quiet, free wander round ponds and low hills with flat paths, good for spotting wildlife in about half an hour.
This one's a gentle loop rather than a big day out. The paths are flat, so buggies and little legs cope fine, and the whole point is slowing down to watch what's on the water. Ducks, moorhens, whatever's about that day, there's no admission and no session to book, you just turn up.
Thirty minutes is about the length of it, which suits a toddler's attention span better than a sprawling country park would. It's not somewhere to plan a whole afternoon around, more a stop on the way somewhere else, or a stretch-the-legs break if you're local and fancy some air without a drive across town.
Parking is free and right there on site, which takes the faff out of a short visit. No entry fee either, so it's an easy one to add to a day without it costing anything beyond the petrol to get there.
