What it’s like
Two live escape rooms in Cardiff where teams crack codes to save a sinking ship or stop a rogue AI, built with adults in mind.
You get an hour, though most groups take somewhere between 50 and 70 minutes to actually solve it, working through codes and physical puzzles to either recover HMS Dolphin in Abandon Ship or stop a nuclear meltdown in AI Apocalypse. You're never really locked in. Staff keep an eye on the room throughout and the doors stay accessible if anyone needs out, but the tension is the whole point.
This one's pitched at adults. The site is upfront that the games are designed with over-14s in mind, and while it says younger players often have a great time, anyone 13 or under needs an adult with them, and 14 to 15 year olds need a parent on site or waiting in the car. Not really a toddler or primary-school outing.
Pricing drops as your group grows: £30 a head for two players, down to £25 for three, £23 for four, £22 for five and £21 for six. Three to five players feels like the sweet spot for puzzle-per-person, though Abandon Ship stretches to eight if you've got a bigger group wanting in. Booking ahead is essential, walk-ins are rarely possible, and turning up without a slot booked is likely to mean turning straight back around.
Parking's free and right outside, which is one less thing to think about, and the train station is a ten-minute walk if you're coming without a car. Both rooms are step-free with wheelchair access built in and tested, and there's an accessible toilet on site. Wear flat shoes with a closed toe. Heels are a genuinely bad idea here since you may be kneeling or moving about mid-game.

Plan your visit
How much does it cost?
It's priced per group, not per head at a flat rate: £30 total for two players, £25 for three, £23 for four, £22 for five and £21 for six.
Do we need to book ahead?
Book in advance to be safe. Same-day slots do sometimes show up online, but walk-ins rarely get a game.
How long does a game take?
Sessions are booked at 60 minutes but most groups finish somewhere between 50 and 70 minutes. Turn up 10 minutes early for the briefing.
Is it suitable for younger kids?
It's built for ages 14 and up. Under-13s must have an adult in the room with them, and 14 to 15 year olds need a parent on site or in the car for the duration.
Will we actually get locked in?
No, it just feels that way. Doors stay accessible throughout and staff watch the room the whole time.
How many people can play?
Games run for 2 to 6 players, apart from Abandon Ship which stretches to 8. Three to five is where the puzzles feel best balanced per person.
Is there parking?
Free parking right on site, and the train station is about a ten-minute walk if you're not driving.
Are the rooms accessible?
Abandon Ship and AI Apocalypse are both wheelchair accessible and have been tested for it, with step-free access throughout and an accessible toilet on site.
