What it’s like
Sixty minutes to solve a themed physical escape room or try free-roam VR, with your group kept entirely to yourselves.
You get an hour, a locked door and a story to get through, working the puzzles and props in the room itself rather than staring at a phone app. It's just your booking in there, no mixing with strangers, and a games master watching the whole thing who can drop hints if you stall. There's a physical escape room side (The Mine, The Heist and others) plus a separate VR option with headsets where you walk round a virtual world solving puzzles, though that one's for the over-12s only.
Pricing drops the more of you there are, from £26 a head for two players down to £20 each for six to eight, which makes this a much better outing as a bigger group than a couple. Under-12s are welcome in the physical rooms as long as an adult's in there with them, and anyone under 18 needs an adult on site throughout. Turn up 10 to 15 minutes early for the briefing so your clock starts on time, and don't cut it fine, arriving late doesn't get you a refund.
Booking has to be done online in advance, at least 90 minutes before your slot, and it's non-refundable if plans change. There's an optional flexible booking add-on at checkout that lets you reschedule once up to two hours before the start, which is worth having if your day's the sort that goes sideways. Parking's free on site at the Treforest Industrial Estate, and they're open every day through school holidays and bank holidays if you need something for a wet week off.
Christmas parties run from £20 a head for groups of 2 to 28, and you can take one room or several with team swaps built in, which is a decent shout for a bigger family gathering or a work do that wants to pretend it's a team building exercise.
