What it’s like
A free local library hub with parent and toddler groups, books, computers and wifi, open right through the week except Sundays.
This is a library and community hub rather than an attraction, and that's the point: no ticket, no booking, just turn up. There are parent and toddler groups running alongside the usual library service of books and computer access, plus community activities that bring in groups of all ages, so a rainy Tuesday morning with a toddler doesn't have to mean another lap of the shopping centre.
Hours are a bit different day to day, which is worth getting straight before you go. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday it's 9am to 6pm. Wednesday it opens later at 10am but stays open until 7pm, so that's the evening option if mornings don't work for you. Saturday runs 9am to 5:30pm and it's closed all day Sunday.
There's indoor seating, toilets and wifi, which covers you for a longer visit than you might plan for, especially if a toddler group runs on and you end up staying for the books afterwards. It's free to get in, which makes it an easy one to try without committing to anything.
Over Christmas the hours shift about. It closes at 12pm on Saturday 24 December and doesn't reopen until Wednesday 28 December, then the 28th to 30th run 9am to 6pm rather than the longer Wednesday hours. It's open as usual until 12pm on New Year's Eve, then closed until Tuesday 3 January.
