What it’s like
Free Bookbug sessions and shelves of picture books for under-fives, tucked inside a health centre with parking on site.
This one's a library first, so the main event for the under-five crowd is Bookbug: singing, rhymes and board books aimed at babies and toddlers, with weekly classes and events layered on top. It's free to get in and free to borrow, which makes it an easy fill-in for a wet Tuesday afternoon when soft play feels like too much effort and too much money.
Being inside a health centre sounds like an odd fit, but it means the building's built for buggies and wheelchairs, and there's baby changing and a spot for breastfeeding if you need it. There's a café on site too, so a browse through the picture books can turn into a coffee stop without having to pack up and drive somewhere else.
Hours are decent for a library: two late nights until 8pm on Tuesday and Thursday, and 10 to 5 the rest of the week bar Sunday, when it's shut. Parking's free on site, which shouldn't need saying but does when half the libraries in the city charge or leave you circling for a space.
It won't hold a four-year-old's attention for hours the way a soft play will, but for a baby or toddler who just wants to be sung to and handed board books, it does the job without costing you anything.

What do Bookbug sessions actually involve?
Singing and rhymes aimed at babies, toddlers and under-fives, run weekly alongside other classes and events at the library.

Is there parking?
Free parking on site, which is more than a lot of Glasgow libraries offer.
What are the opening hours?
10am to 5pm most days, but it stays open until 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays if you want a later visit.
Is it OK for a really small baby?
