What it’s like

Eighteen holes of themed mini golf through a Grade II listed building, with pool and shuffleboard if you fancy a break from the putter.

Eighteen holes of mini golf make up the main event here, split across obstacles and what they call golf tech rather than just windmills and loops. Reckon on 30-45 minutes per 9-hole course, so the full round is a proper hour-plus outing rather than a quick five minutes and out. Once you're done, or if someone in your group would rather sit one out, there's pool, shuffleboard and retro arcade games to fill the gaps.

Ages run right down to babies and up to 17, so it works as a family round rather than an over-18s venue, though younger kids will need a hand with the harder holes. It's card only, worth knowing before you turn up expecting to pay cash. There's no food served on site, but you can carry your drinks round with you, with shelves and barrels dotted along the courses to rest a pint or a cocktail as you play.

One thing to flag: the building's Grade II listed status means it isn't wheelchair accessible, which is a genuine drawback if that matters for your group. Opening hours stretch late, particularly Friday and Saturday when it runs until midnight, and Saturday mornings open at 10am for those wanting an earlier round. There's a cloakroom if you're wrapped up for the weather, and birthday parties get their own party rooms.
